Pitter Patter of Paws... Welcome Home Puppy Kit
After whelping the Mom and pups will stay in the playpen for about 2 weeks.
The puppies graduate to a bigger space and are properly taught the basics of house-breaking by limiting their adventures to the essentials; bed, food, toys and newspaper for potty.
They enjoy our main floor where they can see us and we can see them and spend a lot of time together. We love taking them out for socialization. (who can resist?)
During the warmer months the puppies have access to our patio for sunning and becoming acquainted with the outdoors in our fully fenced big back-yard!
We love to play fetch and teach tricks to our chihuahuas. Our Adult dogs live freely... and enjoy our two-storey home.
Watching the Whelping Webcam
A lot of interest has been expressed about our puppies and to reduce their exposure to unwanted disease we have offered the webcam as an alternative to home visits until the puppies are old enough. We want to share the joys of puppyhood through our webcam. Enjoy!
What you should know about Chihuahuas...
Size: Being the smallest breed dog, they have been called tiny teacup or toy teacup, but they are by standard 2 to 6 pounds. So, they are naturally miniature dogs. Breeding chihuahuas takes a lot of dedication because there is a lot of work in raising these very small puppies.
Colors: Chihuahuas come in all colors! Merle is a trendy coat color but they are not rare. Genetics of chihuahuas is diverse and the reality is that every litter is a true suprise and you never know for sure what puppies will look like. What's important is that the mother and father are in optimum health, in turn produce healthy puppies and thus make healthy dogs.
Coat types: Our breeding program consists of breeding short coat chihuahuas (also called smooth coat chihuahua). Occasionally we will have long coat chihuahuas (also known as long hair or long haired chihuahua).
Socializing: We are willing to 'teach' your puppy his or her name from an early age - helping you make a direct connection to your life-time pet. Our puppies do have some unuasual names but they are very meaningful...as meaningful as their role in our lives. We bring our dogs everywhere we go. They're always in the lime-light! We like to take and share a lot of chihuahua pictures. My favorite subject of photography are my chihuahuas and my children. They fill our lives with a lot of joy.
